Signals Bis presents the work of Julien Lelièvre and Jean-Baptiste Levée, artists and partners of the Maison de la Culture d’Amiens.
Julien Lelièvre and Jean-Baptiste Levée have collaborated on numerous occasions since 2012, in a constant exchange between a graphic designer/photographer (the former) and a typeface designer (the latter).
Signals Bis presents successful projects, unsuccessful tender bids, community graphic design, new typefaces and old self sponsored ventures, and collaborations for cultural operators. Typography, design and photography that tell us how dialogue and shared ideas can cultivate contemporary design, and prove how this design increasingly goes beyond what is expected of it.
Production Type, the digital typeface design agency founded by Jean-Baptiste Levée in 2014, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with an exhibition and several publications that demonstrate both the contemporary nature of the industry and its roots in the current artistic landscape. For Jean-Baptiste Levée, design is above all a way to create social connections, and once a year he brings together friends, colleagues, clients, contributors and the curious to celebrate the launch of an edition or a new typeface. This year focuses on a combination of both, marking 5 years of adventures, creations and collaborations in a place that champions artistic expression in all its forms : the Maison de la Culture d’Amiens.
Signals Bis is hosting the foundry exhibition and the presentation of Julien Lelièvre’s Art d’Autoroute project (published by Building Books) in a friendly and festive setting.
