Preparing local councillors for climate change
Heat waves, decrease in water resources, floods … Climate change affects Hauts-de-France and the territory must prepare for the impactsto come. On this subject, local councillors are on the front line and can act.
To raise their awareness and qualify them, the Sustainable Development Resource Centre (CERDD) is developing a system co-designed with elected representatives. At the centre is “Volumes”,
an itinerant installation of stacked cubes that visualises the territory’s climate vulnerabilities. Inhabitants and elected officials are invited to walk through the installation and, through its volume, to realize the extent of the impacts of climate change on their territory but also the solutions to be considered to deal with them. This is an opportunity to create a dialogue and to start the qualification of selected officials on these issues.
This project is supported by the member institutions of the CERDD Public Interest Group (DREAL Hauts-de-France, Hauts-de-France Region, ADEME, etc.) and benefits from the support of FEDER funds (Hauts-de-France Region) and from the Seine-Normandy Water Agency.
